Biography & Design Philosophy

Born in Nice in 1975, Philippe Nigro studied Applied Arts and Product Design at La Martinière in Lyon and École Boulle in Paris. His early career was shaped by a significant collaboration with Michele De Lucchi in Milan, where he participated in various projects encompassing product design, furniture design, lighting, and interior decor. Nigro's design approach is characterized by a blend of prospective research and pragmatic appreciation of the "savoir-faire" of manufacturers. He seamlessly moves between projects of varying scales, collaborating with both well-known brands and local artisans. This fusion of French and Italian cultures is evident in his work, which often explores modularity and multifunctionality.

Philippe Nigro has collaborated with numerous prestigious brands, including Ligne Roset, De Castelli, Foscarini, De Padova, Serralunga, Driade, and Venini. His notable works include the Confluences sofa for Ligne Roset, which challenges traditional seating conventions with its organic volumes and unexpected juxtapositions. For Hermès, he designed the Les Nécessaires d’Hermès collection, featuring elegant and multifunctional pieces with hidden surprises. His collaboration with Serralunga led to the creation of outdoor furniture that contribute a playful minimalism to their furniture collections, such as the Canisse armchair and the Canisse sofa.
