ALBERTO SALA
Alberto Sala: Redefining Time with Imagination and Precision
Alberto Sala is a visionary Italian designer who blends architectural clarity with emotional storytelling. After completing an Erasmus program at the Institut d'Arts Visuels in Orléans and earning his degree in Architecture, he embarked on a dynamic career in 1999. His path has led him through prestigious studios and into long-standing collaborations with leading design brands such as Progetti, where his work continues to challenge convention and shape the future of contemporary clock design.
From Academia to Avant-Garde Design
Alongside his early professional work, Alberto Sala became a contributor to the Metadesign research unit at the Politecnico di Milano, where he also discovered a deep passion for teaching product design, communication, and computer graphics. During this time, he co-founded the collective rnd_lab and began shaping concepts that blurred the line between art and function—an approach that would come to define his style.
Collaborations with Progetti: Time Reimagined
His long-standing partnership with Progetti has given rise to some of the brand’s most recognizable Progetti clocks. Among them, the Progetti Q01 cuckoo clock redefines tradition with sharp, architectural lines and subtle humor. The playful and off-kilter Progetti Crooked cuckoo clock introduces a bold narrative twist to timekeeping. The minimal yet expressive Progetti Dodici clock is an icon of modern simplicity. These pieces are not just design clocks; they’re poetic reflections of time itself.
Clocks with Character and Context
From conceptual modern wall clocks and cuckoo clocks, Alberto Sala creates design that resonates. As art director for Progetti, he continues to shape a visual identity that is intelligent, expressive, and unapologetically modern. His clocks don’t just measure time—they reinterpret it. Through structure, wit, and restraint, his work invites us to pause, reflect, and rethink the everyday.
