Alessi and Illy join to present PULCINA, the perfect coffee pot, designed by Michele De Lucchi and born after 15 years of intense research in the field of coffee. The intent was clear from the very beginning: to create a coffee pot capable of improving functionality of classic coffee pots and fully enhancing coffee aroma. Illy’s R&D Lab experts analysed the inner working principles of a normal coffee pot in order to create the ideal form to obtain an optimal coffee extraction. PULCINA has a special heater that allows coffee to fully end its brew at the right moment; in this way, the eruption phase will be eliminated alongside that burnt and bitter aftertaste. Coffee aroma will be completely enhanced. Alessi took care of its unique and distinctive design: an original, outer shell with carved step-shaped levels joins PULCINA’s contour, which vaguely recalls an asymmetrical hourglass. The swollen base is narrower than the upper part. This sinuous contour, together with the original and functional “V” spout, reminds of a little chick – the name “PULCINA” comes from the Italian word “Pulcino” meaning “little chick”. The encounter of these two Italian excellences in the field of coffee and design offer a unique product that all coffee lovers should not miss.
