LINO SABATTINI
Born in Correggio in 1925, Lino Sabattini is an Italian designer known for his innovative design of various household items. In the workshop of a manufacturer of brass objects, he learned the techniques of metal processing and from the German ceramist Roland Hettner worked as an apprentice discovering that the forms change and are transformed according to how a material is treated. At the age of thirty, he opened his workshop in Milan and he was quickly noticed by the architect Gio Ponti, who published his works in the magazine Domus. Soon after, he became artistic director for the Christofle Company, while he also designed ceramics for Rosenthal and later, in 1964 he founded his own company, Argenteria Sabattini.
